I purchased a K40 relay for my 1998 SLK230 because I had a no crank, yellow triangle on the dash and the engine fan running at full speed symptoms. It would occasionally start and then shut off after a few seconds. After I installed the new relay (order # 1637097004-516) it has the same no start symptoms but now will never occasionally start like it did before. I have cleaned all the grounds that I could find and checked all the fuses and cleaned them with sandpaper and it did not help. My scanner is a Snap on 2500 using the 38 pin under hood connector. It will no longer connect to the ECU.

Does it sound like a power problem like possibly an ignition switch that gave out? Suggestions on where to start looking would be appreciated.
