'08 E350 Wheel Bearing ?
'08 E350 non-4Matic
Is there supposed to be a spindle washer between the adjustment nut and the outer bearing? Thank you,

Thank you,
Not used to not seeing one in there. Can't even access the locking internal hex bolt straight on had to use a wobble hex key.

The outer washer became obsolete with the W210, the new style nut has a machined face which rests on the bearing itself. Make sure its facing inwards. Its also wise to fill it to the oldschool Mercedes spec (lots of grease in the hub - approximately 70 grams) - and its also a good idea to use a modern grease like a full synthetic lithium complex or a polyurea base if you live in an area with cold climate.

@Zulfigar - Thanks, that is exactly what I did, I appreciate the confirmation. Got lucky and caught it JUST before it did anything to the spindle...Phew!!!

how did the seal install go? hope you didnt use strong hammer blows to seat it, That seal holds the tone ring for the speed sensor.

Thanks Zulfigar, I didn't know about the tone ring and saw what you mean when doing the left side today (2 more worn bearings). Probably got lucky on the right side as I tend to be easy with seals by starting them lightly and straight with a hammer and the rest of the way with a block of wood on square. Today I added a microfiber towel between the wood and the seal.
Thanks again,

hammering can fracture the magnets in the tone ring which can then give you ABS and ESP errors. It is also wise to own a small credit card shaped magnet "eye" it has ferrous powder that takes shape of the magnets. It helps you see if the tone ring is correct in the seal, sometimes new parts can be faulty too. I have ran into such. But the wooden block technique should work too if you are careful.

Would you please explain the magnet checking method with the credit card type eye magnet?
Thanks,

Check this video, you will get the idea.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFr5GmViLug These films/eyes can be bought cheap and are a lifesaver when you have to check such items like tone rings embedded into oil seals. I have had to redo a Honda wheel bearing which was interference fit into the spindle because the supplied part had a broken tone ring in the oil seal (bad brand new part from a very good japanese brand). So guess who checks them every single time now. ![]()
