97 sl instrument cluster

I have a Mercedes SL w/a cluster that has some non functional guages (speedo & clock but odo works). What is the most cost effective way to repair? Can I just replace the cluster w/a used one to keep cost down. I've been told the unit is over 1400 dollars. Any recommendations!

Yes, new ones are pricey...I would scrounge some totaled SLs in the boneyard for a used unit.

Yours has the digital odometer, so make sure you match up with the same type. Earlier 129s had the analog odometer.

Also, change out all of the bulbs at that time, as they are cheap and easily accessible. PITA to do so later when the cluster is back in the car!
