Leaky Injector Solution?
Hi all! New to W140's but not too new Sacco era Benz'. Im looking at buying this early 1995 S600 Coupe/600 CL. The car sat for a number of years now but 'ran when parked. The owner went to fire it up and had a hard time starting so he replaced both fuel pumps. Says it still doesn't run well. Enter me: I went to check it out today because it was priced ok and I've always wanted a pillarless coupe. I got down there popped the oil cap and noticed clear liquid deposits on the first cam and the oil cap smelled like gas, my first indication of a leaky injector issue. The owner cranked it over for me and after feathering the peddle and some chugging it finally idled on its own. Let it run for a bit, decent lifter clicking noises from the middle of the engine? Revved it to maybe 2k and shut it off. Then we walked around the exterior and chatted all for about 10 minutes total. Then I went to start the car, turned over seemingly a couple of times then bam! The engine locked and wouldn't turn. Scared the heck out of me. Locked engine right? The owner said, "Oh yeah it's done that before". Now I know what a hydro-locked engine sounds and feels like but he said it happened before, acted as if it was normal, and told me to crank it again, that and the damage already being done so I very briefly tried to turn it over, and switched it off as soon as nothing happened. Damage would have been done under moment the first time anyway. Pulled all the plugs, turned it over and a 15-foot geyser of fuel shot out of cylinder two. Pulled the fuse for the fuel pump relay in the rear and tried to compression test it but couldn't get my tester on there well enough to get a good reading. Checked some other cylinders to make sure it wasn't just that one. I'm bringing a different tester and boroscope tomorrow to try again but what do we think? Bent a rod? Run away? Engine/Body has 135k on it, no lights besides srs. The car is clean besides clear on the hood starting to go. Even has AMG pentas on. Run away? Guy has a parts car as well but the harness on that is totally disintegrated.
Are the injectors cleanable from the roadside? I would obviously have the injectors serviced or replaced if I bought the car but I just want to see if I can get it working 'good enough' for a test drive.
