Access to crank bolt to turn engine over manually on a 2016 E400 (twin turbo v6)
Been working on transmission service on the vehicle mentioned and needed to turn engine over to get torque converter drain plug on the bottom. The water to air intercooler is in the way of the crank bolt. Pretty easy and straight forward job.
1. Loosen the clamps at the hose to intercooler inlet on both sides.
2. Remove the fasteners that secure the charge pipes, this fastener faces an opening in the wheel well of each front wheel area. As you are facing the wheel the access is in about the 10 to 11 o'clock position. You can see the torx fastener that will need to be removed.
3. Once the charge pipes are pulled out of the intercooler lift up on flat metal piece at lower end of intercooler and pull intercooler towards front of car.
Reverse above to put back together.
You should be able to move it far enough forward to get a standard size 1/2" drive socket on the crank bolt. Not really that bad of a job.
