1990 300SL can't adjust clock

The clock works fine but when I pull out the knob and try to turn it in either direction, it won't. Any ideas?

Does it require a push in on the knob, as with other Benz clocks?

I can only pull the knob out a quarter inch. Can't push it in at all.

I think there are some spring contacts on the pcb for the set and reset of the clock. Not sure because I don’t own an R129. The contacts may need cleaning.
