1994 S500 wiring harness
Just got my car back from the dealer, who changed the wiring harness and MAF sensor. It drives much smoother now but why on earth did this cost so much? Does anyone have a picture of what this harness looks like, I thought it was just a plug or something with lots of wires, is it a magical ball of light? I would just be interested to see this part, it must be something quite spectacular.

I had trouble understanding it too at first.
It consists of all the electrical wiring in the engine bay. So yes, it's quite a project.

So is it like all the wires that connect everything together. Knowing the W140 it must be massive, like a giant spider. Could a tech or someone please take ones of these out of the box and take a picture, I'm dying of curiosity about this part. Oh, and by the way does anyone know how many computers are in the W140 chassis - just one of those useless facts we all love. The W140 electrical system must be an amazing structure, imagine if all electrical components and wiring were removed and displayed.

Me too . . .
If you happen to get a picture of a wiring harness, please post it. I have never seen one either. Would like to add it to my page.
Re computers, there's at least five (5); 1) Base module 2) Diag module 3) ABS module (brakes) 4) EA/CC/ISC 5) LH-SFI module There's also an ASD module and even more for the S600! Check out my page (www house button below) for more info on each module including operation and inter-workings of each. |
