Unhappy intermitant squeek

I have a 1977 450sl that recently has an intermitant squeek that resembles brakes squeeling. It does not happen all the time and is not associated with braking. Does this car have squeelers built into the brake pads when they are wearing? Where should I begin and what should I be looking for? ( I usually can't get it to squeek when I am looking for it. )

What condition are your drive belts in? I recently replaced all my belts and some intermittent squeaking went away. I think the two inner-most belts were original and one was so distorted that it twisted around midway.
