Talking My Euros Are The Sh-t! 1 Question Though

Hey guys!

I finally updated my 86 560 SEL with a new set of euro headlights over the weekend and all I can say is WOW! I Loooooove the way these babies look (especially when I roll with my citylights)!

I also wired the citylights so that my light signals INSIDE the headlight with the city light bulb for that kinda new E class effect. The only problem with that was that when I had it hooked up like that, the citylights would only come on if I signaled and not when I was running my side markers. I'm wondering if anyone knows who makes the same light bulb with two filaments so that the citylights will just blink brighter when I signal while functioning along with my side markers.

Right now I hooked them up correctly but I just wanted to see how the light would look when I signaled (and it was a pretty cool affect while I did it in the garage)

Any suggestions are welcome and I hope to have some pics up soon because I snapped the whole installation process (which was a cinch by the way...I even got to keep my headlight wipers). I've already gotten like 4 compliments on her since Saturday! Anyone with ANY doubts about updating your MB to euros, forget it and do the "transformation" because its well worth it and shaves a million years off of the look of the car!

Alan

After I get the white-faced gauges and woodgrain shifter knob and steering wheel, that will probably be my next upgrade!

Almost misread your thread...thought you posted that your "Euros WERE Sh-t"!!!

Here is a quote from an old thread by Barrie. I think you tapped the wrong wire thats why your city lights are signalling

Quote:
Tom,
No, I don't think you'll find a wire in the US harness for that 3rd bulb. You could however, run a 6-inch wire from pin 3 of the main light connector to pin 4 of the corner parking lamp connector. (Assuming same arrangement as on a W124.) This would give you 'city lights' when your parking lights are on.

I use the fog lamps as my DRLs.

I've actually got the city lights hooked up to work correctly...I tapped them that way just to make them signal but now they DO run with my corner lights. I actually WANT them to be able to signal also (the same way my corner lights with double filaments function). I'm contemplating white gauges although right now I'm currently concentrating a lot of energy into one of my 250C's for a show in two weeks.

I've been trying to get my hands on euros for it but won't be able to before this particular show. Does ANYONE even make that double filament for such a small bulb? I'm only asking because one auto part store says yes although they didn't have it, and another says no

I'm not sure of the exact number but I think they're those little #937 bulbs (the little tiny bulbs that you just push straight into the socket)...I've seen them at the auto parts stores in different colors and I'm told AGAIN that there is a double filament bulb like this although I've never remembered seeing one.Mind you, it doesn't mean it does not exist because I didn't look for it but I'm hoping that someone makes this bulb for folks such as myself that would like this effect.

Of course as I think about it, its probably not a big deal to most (including me) but would certainly be something that I wouldn't mind manufacturing and selling to individuals like me that would want this type of bulb

If the double filament light is available, it is somewhere in this catalog.

If you find it, pl.s advise this forum.
Good luck

Do you have the vacuum compensators hooked up as well? You know, the light level control?

Did not hook up the vac adjusters but may consider it at another time. The adjustments aren't all that neccesary for me anyway and don't make that big a difference for me to take all of the dash crap out just to hook it up. I'm fine with adjusting them by hand if need be. I'm basically getting a lot of guys with 126's here asking me about my lights whenever we stop at a light exiting the highway. Well actually its some of the same cars I see daily and I guess we can tell that we check each others cars out when we do end up driving to and from work at the same time.:p

Anyway, I think I've figured out a way to get my city lights to blink. I had an idea that since I have those windsheild wiper washer fluid dispenser thingies that are on the hood with faint blue lights and they blink along with the side markers (because I have both the power AND ground hooked up to 2 pins whereas just the power wire is hooked to 1 pin with my city lights). I'll just tap into the ground wire lead for the city lights and run it to the same pin at the signal marker as my washer dispenser and this should create the same effect (I hope)

Will update you guys whenever I do get a chance to actually do it...
