My 1985 190E has a small crack at one location. Is there an adhesive that won't yellow in the sun, but will adhere well enough so that I can apply it to stop the crack from propagating further?

I haven't seen one yet. The best thing I have seen is a dash mat or cover.

Would'nt a vinyl repair kit solve the problem?

Would puncturing a small hole at the end of the crack using a small very hot needle, to create a small bead that dissipates the forces of the crack, stop the propagation, then a vinyl repair as suggested? I work with plastics in my day job.
