From January 1st. 2000 the government in the U.K. has banned the sale of leaded fuel. I have a 1987 190e 2.3 16v that has a sticker inside the gas flap that says "LEADED FUEL". Can I run my car on unleaded fuel? If not what do I do? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Mercedes used very hard valve seats anyway. You will be fine, if not, all that is done is a valve job with hardened seats. The only thing the lead does is lube the top end. As a tech in the Us, this is what I have heard for I have never seen leaded fuel with the exception of race and aviation fuel! My whole life has been with unleaded fuel and it is fine.

When Mercedes made changes for unleaded fuel back in the 70s they changed all of the valve & valve seat material for all versions of cars, so don't worry.
