W140 Suspension Problem

I have a '95 S500 with 55,000 miles that I believe has a rear suspension problem.

The car does not seem to take impacts from bumps well. It feels and sounds like something is loose (on both sides) when I go over bumps. My friend has a 2001 S500, and it takes the same bumps with aplomb (as does my '98 Caravan). I just had new shocks installed, so that is not the problem.

I know little about suspension systems, but could it be bushings, struts, etc.... Thanks in advance for you help!

maybe accumulators

The rear shocks are intigrated to a set of hydrogen accumulators in some models. These can go bad. They are the size of softballs. You can see them if you crawl under the rear end. This may be a place to start if you have the self leveling rear suspension.
