AC/Pulley-clutch

Since the pulley has to be the same on my 86 300E for the AC, is it easy to take off the pulley/clutch assembly of the old compressor and put it on another compressor? If it is fairly easy, may I go to the salvage yard, and get an 86' compressor used, and change the pulley/clutch assembly, or do they all have different shaft sizes?
