I need to send in the speedo on my 88 300E
to have the odometer repaired. Can you tell me if it is OK to drive the car with the speedo removed? Other than the fact that we will have to guess at the speed, is there a problem with the cable or anything else? Thanks, Paul |

I drove without the speedo in my 16v for 2 weeks and nothing happened, although I think that the tach didnt work and maybe some other gagues, but the car is still driveable.

You can rest easy...you can drive the vehicle without the speedometer and not have to worry about damaging anything. I would advise just removing the speedometer portion and reinstalling the rest of the instrument so you can monitor the other gauges.
