Man, you could have one problem or many small problems.

Your idle could be bad because you have a bad engine wiring harness, bad spark plug wire or bad connection at the spark plug boot, spark plug gap too wide, etc.

Your mileage could be bad due to a bad O2 sensor, but then you ought to have a tripped check engine light.

Roy,

I have a 95 E320 and have become quite familiar with it from all of the help I've received from other forum members here and doing the work myself. But to be honest I have no idea where to start with what problems you've listed. I've pretty much experienced all of the problems your describing but each one can be caused by many different things.

I would try doing some searches in the archives on this forum and then step by step narrow down your problems. One thing I would suggest is to run the codes on the engine using the LED pushbutton light, it is located near the battery. Press the button for about 3 seconds and record how many flashes you get.

As a matter of fact do a search in the archives for a much better explanation on this procedure. That should at least get you started with the process of narrowing down things.

Dale

Your idle speed is controlled by the EA/CC/ISC Module (Electronic Accelerator/Cruise Cntrl/Idle Speed Cntrl). The common name, though, is throttle actuator.

If your actuator is actually bad, get your checkbook or credit card ready, because it is about a $1,000 part.

Parts Shop sells it for about $961.00.

Good luck.
