Help!!! Instrument Illumination Control Unit

I recently acquired a 1990 300E. The center console and other lights that use leds are not working. The Instrument Illumination Control Unit draws power directly from fuse #8 and is most likely my problem.

Can anyone identify the control units location and describe what it looks like so that I can test it?
