300e (sel) ignition upgrades

Does anybody have any experience & feedback with enhancing the ignition system on the six? I'm hoping to preserve my starter motor by avoiding all the cranking currently necessary to fire the beast.

I have a hot coil handy- and I'm looking at something like the MSD-6 system; wish that Bosch would have marked the + and - terminals on the current coil!
