sluggish back windows

Hi, and help please. 78 280 CE, w/ sluggish rear windows. I could coax them down, but am leary of them going back up. Suggestions. Front are acceptable. Thanks. And what about the vacuum door locks? Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. Chaslie

RE: windows

The most likely cause is 24 year-old lubricant in the window tracks. After such a long time, the lubricant becomes dirty and solidifys into a gooey, stiff mess. This will hinder the motor's ability. Remove old grease, replace with new.

A bad ground on the window motor can also be considered.

sticky windows?

Thanks Paul, I 'll get to it and change the grease. My grease is twice as old as the windows, and I'm doing ok. Stay well, and thanks again. C

As for the door locks, do a search on "door locks" in the diesel discussion forum. Most of the diesels are the 123 body like yours, so the troubleshooting instructions will be the same.

Good luck,

Thanks for the input Larry. I'll give it a try. I notice that my gas door has a lock that has never worked so I may start there. Chaslie
