Flasher location and strange noise ?

Hello all, I have a 1982 500 sel (euro car) that has a couple of things going on and I wonder if they may related. The turn signals are flashing faster than normal, although not super fast, all bulbs are opperating, there is a fast clicking or ticking at times behind the glove box, not in time with the turn signals but more like when brakes are applied (not abs modulating sound). I am curious if the sound may have been the climate control unit cycling and wonder if the instrument cluster has to come out to assess the flasher. All input appreciated and thanks for reading Scott
