Cabrio power top won't work

I just replaced a hydraulic cylinder that had a bad leak and refilled over half a liter of lost hydraulic fluid. Now the top doesn't work. The motor and hydraulics energize, but it won't release a catch somewhere, stopping the operation. Is it because there's air in the lines that need to be bled?

have you checked to see if there are any codes in the system & if the fuse is good for the hydraulic pump? when a hydraulic component is changed it bleeds itself.

The pump is whirring away, and there is some movement in the top, so I doubt it's the fuse. It feels like it's stuck. I fixed the top with everything in the halfway position...had to "help" things along with a little force to put the top down. Now the hatch won't open to put the top up. The battery has been disconnected for a couple months while I do some winter repair and maintenance. The button flashes when the top hangs up.

How do you access the codes in the system? Is it the same place as for the engine codes?
