1997 SL 320..........OBD II connector???????

Can anyone tell me where it is at? I can't seem to find it, at the battery area, etc.

I have an OBD II scanner, with the "normal" rectangular connector. Does the MB use something else, where I may have to get an adaptor?

Can I get all the codes needed, with the OBD II scanner?

Thanks

OBD2 connectors are all alike, either it's OBD2 or it's not.

It depends on what codes you need. If you just need to know what is making the "check engine" light come on, then the answer is yes.

Thanks guys...........I will look for it, and check out the scanner.

Anyone familiar with Assenmacher SpecialtyTools, Inc.? They offer their own scanner.........and MB cartridge kit.........and a 38-pin multiplex adapter kit.

These are rather pricey. How do they offer any more than the standard OBD II scanner? Are they getting more information from the car than the OBD II?

Thanks

On that vintage, yes I think you'd get more MB special codes out of the car using the 38 pin under the hood. OBD codes,it would be the same info at the 38 pin, OBD codes are US mandated codes, but MB has codes, special codes, which doesn't have to be offered by OBD. Assenmacher is a highly regarded company. Maybe their website info on this code reader will explain the various systems available above and beyond OBD with this tool.
