Heater control unit removal SL500

How do i remove the heater control unit in my SL500, the lights on it turn on and off just by using the unit, i want to check the connections and re-solder the unit if needed.

What year?? there are 2 different control units, upto 1997 & from 1997.
On the upto cars the radio must come out first & then reach behind the A/C/C control & push it out.
