91 350sd Temperature Gauge Stopped Working

I disconnected the plug from the sensor, then with ohm meter tested the sensor as the car was running and getting warmer the resistance started to decrease (decrease or increase i can't remember).
It looks like the sensor is good but i am not 100% sure.
What could be other problem for temperature gauge not working?
