As a non-professional mechanic, I worry about this. I THINK that if you completely remove the "dead" locktite and put in new (blue) locktite, you are generally OK until the threads wear out (assuming that this is not a torque-to-yield bolt). When does that happen? I don't know. I THINK that the MB locktite is actually microbeads of liquid loctite in plastic beads put on with adhesive. When you use pressure (like, installing) the microbeads break and release the loctite.
The MB manual is really adamant about replacing the bolts to the steering box when it is removed/replaced. This is because there are teeth on the shoulder of the bolts as well as locktite. Replacements were darned near $30!!! But I'm not willing to take a chance in this area.
