Hello,
Havent written in awhile. My '86 oil pressure lights comes on and stays on from time to time. More often than not. The dealer replaced the "sensor" and it stopped for awhile, but the problem has resurfaced. I called to have them replace their work, but "something else could be causing the problem" was stated by my service advisor. In NY, the job should be warranted, but MB has an annoying habit of creating another cause of the problem. What could be the problem?

Also, the turn signal does not work when my parking or main lights are on. When they are on, the rear yellow light remains lit. An independent shop looked and said the lighting wires seem to be crossed and needs to corrected. Is this something that I can do myself?

Love the 16 valve, but the car needs alot of TLC. I'm doing the best for it that I can.

The oil light problem can be checked easily by accessing the low oil level sensor on the drivers side of the engine on the oil pan. Is has a single wire going to it. Start the engine and then disconnect the wire. The low oil light should come on in about 60 seconds. If the light comes on immediately, the guage is defective with the light in it.
Good luck,

The problem with the oil light is familiar to me.
My previous '85 16v did have the problem and my current '86 16v does.
After visiting the dealer who checked the sensor, I happened to read in the owners manual that a slightly low oil level causes the oil warning light to switch on and off.
By filling 0.5 or 1 liter oil the problem should be gone, and in my case it did.

Good luck,

Robert Z

If not the sensor could be faulty. I have replaced many.
