yesterday i almost did something very embarassing. i was cleaning the car and needed to turn on the engine, i did this outside the car, thinking that automatics only ever start up in Park. much to my surprise the car lurched forward and only my extremely quick reactions and athletic prowess (read: lucky grab) saved my pride and joy and the front gate from being destroyed!!!

what has gone wrong to allow this and how can i fix it, as this is a disaster waiting to happen.
