EHA "O" rings and the law of unintended consequences

Replaced the "O" rings in order to stop the leak at the EHA on my 560sl. Worked like a charm, no more leak. Unfortunately, now it idles like crap and the exhaust smell like rotten eggs. What gives? Thanks. J. Boggs |

				Rotten eggs?

Sounds like a catalitic converter going bad, or already gone. You can try putting a bottle of techron adn do an "italian tune-up", go to the highway and let it go for a while. It that does not clear the idle and the smell...disconnect the catalitic converter and see if that makes it better. If it does you need a new cat. $ On the other hand, a bad EHA normally leaks... I am sure you will get more suggestions but, at least it is a starting point. Good luck!

If you replaced the o-rings and stopped a leak....and that created a bad smell, your fuel mixture is OFFFFFFF. Have it checked with a lambda tester!

				Disconnect Cat

Might still smell bad, but all those annoying rattles would be covered!! And the radio. Conversation with significant other. cell phone. Maybe it's not a bad idea!!
