Question 722.3 transmission check valve

I am repairing a 722.312 automatic transmision from my 380SL. The ASTG manual refers to a "check valve" in the primary pump housing. My dealer can't find the part in his computer or fiche. The part was not in the original transmission or it got swallowed when the primary pump failed.

Attached is the assembly drawing showing the part (#23). Can anyone shed light on this mystery? TIA
