headlight shorts

i have a 1980 280sl my headlights work on the passenger side but not on the driver side. there are two bulbs a smaller and larger one the small one lights but the larger does not. I have change bulbs add a new combination switch and fuses. tail lights on driver side do not work either no current reaching lights.
