I have a beautiful teal green 300 Sel with the 3.0L six cylinder engine..Is their a production or manufacturing issues with these engines constantly loosing or blowing oil. My car has only 112,000 miles on it and I have to add a quart of oil at least every 8 days..Does mercedes-benz usa know about this or what???...Any remedy would be greatly appreciated..besides replacing or overhauling a good engine besides the leaks..

mgreenhouse,
The M103 engines all leak some at the head behind the distributor on the right side. My 89 300SE does. But if you are loosing that much oil you have either a really bad leak or some internal engine problem (bad piston rings, valve guide seals, front or rear main seals) |

Mercedes has known of this forever. There is a cure, but it costs about 1500-$1,700. You will have to get a valve job done and the improved bronze valve guides and seals.
Good luck. ------------------ Benzmac: 1981 280GE SWB 1987 16V ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
