Valve stem seals 300CE...help...
Hi everyone,
I've searched the forum, but found nothing for my 89 300CE, 172,000 miles. I found a procedure for replacing the valve stem seals on an 88 560SEL, but not for my car. So, I have one question. Is the procedure for my 89 300CE will be the same as the 88 560SEL for replacing the valve stem? If not, does anyone know the procedure or how to replace the valve stem on my 89 300CE? It is so embarrass to smoke the guys behind me. Thanks in advance. |

It's pretty much the same procedure as the M116/7. The valve seals are different for intake and exhaust.

It is different in that you need to unbolt the cam bearing caps and remove the rocker assemblies, rather than compress the valves to remove the rockers like on the 116. The Haynes manual has a pretty good description of the procedure.
