Please help identify the correct thermostat kit.
Dear friends,
I need some help in finding the correct part for my 240D with this VIN number: WDBAB23A9BB247229. When I tried to retrieve the part number for thermostat kit, I received this engine range to choose from: -10-086378 -12-027798 Based on the 12th through 17th digits of the VIN number, I can't see how it falls into the engine range shown above. Please help me find the correct part (which engine range should I choose??) Thank you very much. Best regards, Eric |

Your ENGINE # is different than your VIN #. You want the engine #; starts with 616.

If its a manual, it will be the 10-xxxxxx number
If its an automatic (my condolances) it will be the 12-xxxxxx number. What they are looking for is the model number of your car. In your case it is something like 123.123.1x.xxxxxx. Look for a sheetmetal plate just infront of the radiator. All those numbers on there tell you about your car, and the options it was built with. Hope this helps, -Larry

Eric,
You can always do what I do. I call the dealer and have them look up the correct part number based on the VIN. That seems to work. And, Phil is always a great help finding the correct part number. Jonathan |
