Question Hissing noise

When I start my 200TE I can hear a hissing noise comming from the rear wheel of the car, only on the outside, it's not the tyre anyone any ideas ??? thanks in anticipation

Hi,

Fuel pump might be mounted there. Do you have the reapir manual book or CD?

Which side of the car? If it's the right side and sounds like an exhaust leak, yes, it's the fuel pump. That's normal.

Definitely the fuel pump. The W124 models with the larger engine displacements have two.

It's protected by a plastic cover so you won't see it...the hissing is normal. If it starts to buzz loudly, it's a sign of impending failure.

Does the hissing occur for a second or two when you first switch the ignition on, then stop. If so, it's definitely the fuel pump.
