S280 W140 Bleeps!

Hi,
When I take the key out the ignition, after 5 sec, I hear 3 audible double bleeps. Is this normal?

When I unlock the car the instrument panel of the mileage display illuminates.
It also stays illuminated for about 30 seconds after I have locked the car, is this both normal?

The car has been serviced recently and the service ASSYT indicator has been reset.
However the above items occurred before and after the service.

Also lastly I believe there is a way to check the amount of miles left before the next service. How can you do this?

Pls help

Many thanks In advance

I think it is normal. I'm not sure but I remember hearing those three beeps afterI took the 'smart key' out of a 1999 E300 Turbodiesel and a 2003 C230 Kompressor.

Does your S280 have automatic or constant headlamps when you
turn on your engine? (headlamps always on).

The mileage, time, and outside temp will stay illuminated for around 30 seconds, after the last door is closed.

pressing the trip odometer reset button twice with the motor running will display the remaining miles until service is due.

I would like to know about you headlamps.

No the head lamps are not always on.
I have discovered that the beeps are coming from my Sony CD player, which is a reminder to remove the face off!

thanks

LOL, when I first read this the Sony beep, beep, beep came to mind.

The later IC's stay awake for a few moments after removing the key and will wake up when the door is opened or CL is activated. All this happens via CAN. ESA's also come up on most versions as well.

I had a Euro W140 with daytime running lights and when you shut
off the engine, the DRL relay kept the headlamps on for a second or two. that caused the headlight reminder in the cluster to beep
2 or 3 times before the relay shut the headlights off.
I have also seen this on several Canadian w140's with DRL's
as well.

Damn Sony's! they get you every time.
