Need Help On Resistor
Hello,
I have this resistor in the wire, but does not know much about resistor and function. If 12Volts car battery go in - resistor - what come out ?? volts?? watt??? Thanks in advance Steve

your answer....
This is a 24Ohm resistor with +-10% tolerance and can fail 0.1% of every 1000 hours of operation.
From a 12V battery, if we use V=IR we get 0.5Amps of current coming out of the resistor. Voltage remains constant unless there is a voltage drop through the resistor. If I'm wrong please correct me, I studied electronics for a few days in order to figure out a circuit for a class not related to electronics at all. xp |

This appears to be a 1/4 Watt resistor at high magnification, and if you connect across 12V, it will draw 0.5X0.5X24= 6 Watts! Briefly.
Don't hold it in your hand while you do this, because it will quickly become incandescent, then - if the flameless type of metal film resistor - it will turn color and die. What did you need to use it for? Steve |
