I had a similar problem on an old car. We finally figured out that the problem was old flexible brake lines. The interior had simply collapsed and shut off brake fluid flow.

What was weird was it happened to both rear lines. Never had seen that happen before. We compared the replacement (OEM) lines to the old ones and determined that the failed ones were not Mercedes brand. They were so bad we could almost break them in half with our hands.
