W126 reclining rear seat removal
Mike Tangas explained this to me before but I can't find his explanation and I don't remember a darned word of it.
Is there an unindexed section in the CD manual on this? If not, what is the procedure? I see two bolt heads where tabs would be in a nonreclining 126 rear seat. Removing the bolts doesn't seem to do anything to relelase the seat. Help. Thanks, Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

Sixto,
Remove the two bolts (mine has nuts on the inside) and then slide the seat forward, not up. Unhook the seat heaters if it has them and lift the seat bottom out. Then there are two bolts below the back of the seat. remove them and pick UP on the seat back. Hope this helps.

I'm a little confused since you mention reclining and non-reclining in your original question.
I'll use your 300SD as the model (non-reclining). 1. Release the two spring tabs, at the outside bottom of the rear seat bottom cushion/frame by pushing them towards the doors. 2. Pull up on the lower front edge and disengage bottom. Remove CAREFULLY thru rear door. 3. There are THREE bolts (one in the middle sorta under the armrest) that are removed to loosen the rear seat BACK cushion/frame. Lift UP the seat back to disengage from metal slots by the parcel shelf. Remove, without scratching up anything. EDIT: Just realized your wording was fine; my understanding was confused.....Nevermind ![]()
