I recently purchased a 92 400E and discovered last week that the A/C does not work. I checked the fuse in the box & the flat fuse in front. Both were ok and read 14.?? volts with a meter. The Compressor clutch does not engage and I cannot see or hear it attempt to. What should I check next? If the system has lost pressure, what is the most common place for a leak? Any recomendations?
Thanks, Alan |

expansion valve,evaporator core
first temporarily jump the low psi cut out switch at the drier bottle (2 blade connections.not the one with the pigtail harness)if the compressor engages, the system is low on freon [This message has been edited by Webmaster (edited 02-18-2000).] |

Do as instructed above. I have seen the high pressure hose burst due to Power Steering leaking on it. The most is the evaporator. They are faulty 90% of the time on these when they leak out. Be sure to check the 15a fuse UNDER the fuse box cover. You have to take out the 6 phillips screws to get to it. It is in top of a green relay. YOu should update it to a 20a fuse. This will keep the aux fans on and the pressures down when it gets hot again.
