new A/C compressor replacment
hi
Does anyone have any tips on how to drain and refill the a/c before i put a new compressor in, My a/c works fine but on hot days with the a/c off there is a nasty noise in the clutch, It looks alot easier to replace the whole unit, then just the clutch with the special tools, Plus the guy on ebay sell rebuild compressors with new clutches for the cheaper then just a new clutch from MB thanks Dave 190e 16v |

Replacing an a/c compressor involves MUCH MORE than simply drain and refill. Not only does it involve a vacuum pump, gauges, etc., but you are entering into an area that is tightly controlled by the Federali Environmental Extremists.
If you are not trained and equipped for refrigeration service, you will be best served by taking it to an auto a/c shop for refrigerant recovery, then bring the car home, change the compressor and take it back to them for evacuation and charging. Releasing the freon into the atmosphere is punishable by a $25,000 fine. Good luck, |
