W201 plastic liner under right fender

I am not the first owner of my 1989 190e2.6, and I noticed that under the right front fender, there is a piece of plastic shielding on the lower front part , that goes all the way under and meets the airdam. There is no such plastic shielding on the left front fender.

My guess is that this is there to protect the horns from dirt and spray, which are on the right side.

Does everyone have the same thing on their 201 car? Or did the previous owner lose the one for my left fender?

If so, then this is yet another example of those asymmetric design elements of the 201 (the mirrors and mono-wiper are other examples).
