Have started to notice wind noise when driving my 300 TE at freeway speed. Seems to be coming from the seal on the driver's window. OTOH, am not sure if this noise is completely normal and I'm hearing it because I've had the music down often enough recently to notice it.
In the event that it does need replacing, first how to test for it? Second, how to replace it. Is this something a mere mortal can do or should I have my service shop do it? Many thanks, as always …tracy |

One trick for locating the noise is to duct tape the areas till you cut the sound. Cover each new area with out removing previous tape until you solve it. You of course need to decide if its the door seal or the door window seal or the winshield seal or the sunroof... the noise can transfer inside the roof or body.

Also if you can get a stethescope and remove the fixed end so all you have is a tube at the end you can locate things much easier.

Thanks for the many suggestions. I especially liked the one using the stethescope! Will have my girfriend come along and use hers, and perhaps she'll continue the exam...
Always told her that working on cars can be fun. . . . |
