Any thoughts on the a/c heater blower motor replacement?
I am replacing my evap, heater core and other related components in the assembly and was wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the blower motor while I am in there.
Can the blower motor be accessed another way other than removing the dash? Is it accessible by removing the wiper assembly? It looks like it would be, just want to be sure. I am just trying to possibly save some time on an inevitable part replacement in the future. Do the blower motors have a tendency to fail? Whats their avg life expectancy? This is maybe the original with about 76K miles on the car. |

The blower is available from under the wipers. It does go bad but I would wait till it does. I would replace all vacuum elements though as a couple are just as hard to get to as the evap.

Whats the labor hours for removal and replacement of the blower motor through the windshield assembly method?
Evap called about 16. I may be close to those numbers by the time I'm done ![]() |

I removed the wiper arm, wiper motor, etc to access the blower motor, and while I didn't remove it, it can be done in about an hour (or less) if you are good.

slight noise from fan- 87 300E, 321K miles
I am getting a slight noise from my blower fan and have noticed it for off-on for 30 d. Perhaps slightly more noticable now. Fan was relaced after stopping completely at about 140-150K miles.
Should I replace it now if one of our club tech sessions is coming up? How long does it take-is the one hour comment right? Should I go via the wiper or dash? Should I get a rebuilt or OE? Thanks. |
