i have a 1986 300e and when i drive, sometimes all of a sudden it is like my car is not getting any gas ,and then the car stalls.and also if i just keep the the car in pake or in any gear after a few minutes it does the same thing and just stalls. what is causing that?

Could be a faulty fuel pump relay - in the vicinity of the battery. I have more or less the same engine as you, but my fuel & a/c controls are laid out differently than yours. Check the archives. There's been alot of talk about this part.

How long since you last replaced the fuel filter?

Mine had the same symptoms as yours. First i checked out the entire ignition system (since it felt like it lost the ignition), but it turned out to be the fuel filter.

It's a 10 min. DIY job.
