I have an '86 MB 300E (automatic) which has recently developed an anoying, and getting louder, squeak in the gear shift area (only when driving).
The shift lever vibrates a little and when I hold it tight against the side to keep it from vibrating, the squeak is greatly diminished if not eliminated. The more the lever vibrates, (such as when I hit bumps), the louder the squeak. I'd appreciate any educated guesses. Thanks.
