What is an Evaporator Temp Sensor? and about the Japanese Inspection...

I have the part # as 2108300572

What is it? My dealer recommended replacing it ...
___________

Anyway it is time for the dreaded 2 year Japanese SHAKEN where many of the dealers and independents take the opportunity to screw their customers.

How much do you ask?
FIRST - gotta pay - 90,000YEN in more or less tax.

SECOND - gotta pay - 50,000YEN to the dealer to do the inspection.
This fee is a little high, but OK.

THIRD - Repairs - the Goldmine ...
We started with an estimate for 190,000YEN and are now at 30,000YEN - (brakes and fluid).
Obviously some of their customers just say OK and pay the 190,000YEN.

So obviously I do not trust the service advisor.... I just really do not know what the Evaporator Temp Sensor does, so I wonder whether it should be replaced or not.

I love the scene in the movie FARGO when the salesman is selling the Clearcoat! These guys are just like that!

Thanks Gary

The evaporator temp sensor "feels" the temperature of the A/C evaporator, & can cause the Pushbutton control to cycle the A/C compressor so that the evap doesn't freeze up.
Common failure here in the SOUTH.

Thanks MBDOC

Should I just wait until it breaks or will it cause other problems if it does?
