steering wheel replacement

I am the owner of a 1989 190E, and would like to replace the original steering wheel. I find that the original wheel is too large, very spongy at the 12 o'clock position and makes me feel as though I'm driving a bus.
I would like to replace this wheel with a much newer model off a CLK perhaps? Anyone know if this conversion is possible, difficult or do-able at all? Marty.

It is possible to replace the stock wheel. Check www.2phast.com for some conversion tips. Be forewarned that if you do go to a smaller diameter wheel, you may lose line of sight to the fuel gauge and the top of the speedo, since the W201 does not have a "tilt" feature.
