Airconditioner Cooling

I need help! 1988 300e, after moving back to Texas my AC began having problems. The expasion valve was replaced. The electic cooling fan is working properly. My pressure reading look good.

Problem when the temp in Texas is over 85, I have to drive over 40 for effective cooling. Still it does not cool like a GM.

The pressure setting are good, but if the outside tempature is above 85, the reading increase until the pressure sensor cut's off the compressor.

A note to the two post that have been made: The economy setting does not engage the AC or cooling fan.

Any sugestions,

Thanks,

NNBC

What have you done to the AC so far??Gotta help us so we can help you.
What setting do yu have the AC on?? "EC" setting sucks, its usually too warm, lower the temp using the adjuster on the climate control unit. If all else fails, try:

R134 conversion??
New AC Dryer??
Freon Recharge(R12, if available)??

Try those first

And there is a reason why EC sucks. EC stands for Economy or put another way, no compressor engagement. You get ambient air with EC. The button to the left of EC cools it down if the system is working as intended.

That's my point why the EC setting sucks, it does not engage the aux fax or the AC compressor.

Also check out the climate control unit, they can short out and/or fail.
