Hello. When I start my engine and drive my car(without warming the car up), I notice that rpm goes up to like 3000(car doesn't go any faster bc it's still in 1st gear). Then, all of a sudden, it comes back down(from 1st gear to 2nd gear, i think). When changing from 1st to 2nd gear, I hear this weird sound breifly( like it's kicking it back) After that, everything is normal. It doesn't bother me too much but, i am afraid it's bad for the engine or something. WHAT IS GOING ON? Is this related to differential? Do i need to have it checked soon? Please help. I REALLY HOPE IT'S NOTHING SERIOUS>>>Can this be caused by not changing oil when it is supposed to?
Thanks always. ... Justin.

is this the same car you are having all the other problems with?? If it is, you ought to have been back to the dealer or been in contact with the party you bought it from. Your list of difficulties seems endless. I really feel bad that you're having such a crappy experience with that car.

Year and model?

Remember that newer cars have the delayed upshift when cold to warm up the catalytic converter quicker. Any minor problem would be more noticable at this time. Still best to have it checked out at the dealer.

The delay holds the RPM so it will heat up the exhaust and fire off the catalyst. IF you try to disconnect, you will set a code.

Normal normal normal. My 93 190 2.6 does the same thing. My solution: on cold starts I usually let it idle for a full two minutes or so because I really dislike the high-rpm/hard-shift combo. It may still delay, but for a shorter period of time and will go to second at a lower rpm.

Thanks guys. I won't worry about this problem. I think I should warm up my engine before I drive. Thanks again.
