124's: What was the first year for R134?
Curious, what was the first year for R134 refrigerant in the 124 series?

I'm almost positive '93 was the first year for 134, at least on the 300E.

The 1992 400E's and 500E's were the first to get R134a.
All others got it in 1993.

I think your car might be unique.
I asked this same question a year ago in a similar thread, and it was pretty decisively answered by Benmac and others that other than 1992 400E's and 500E's, all other W124's got it in 1993.

epssax's '92 300D with factory 134 is not unique. I looked at a '92 300D which I was surprised to see was factory 134.
Have a great day, |

Here is the thread that I started about exactly a year ago, and it appears that it was probably a rolling change in 1992 - some models, like the 400E's, 500E's, and at least the diesels got R134a.
300E's didn't get it until MY1993, or so it appears... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=41313&highlight=new+refrigerant
