Hi Francis,
I read the "article" up to the point where they suggest a compression test at idle. After that,I wrote it off as potentially dangerous information. I've heard of some strange stuff, but never a compression test at idle. It must have been from an issue a few years ago since The Star May/June issue won't be out for two months. The site that the article is posted to is a VW site.
Regards,
Randy D.

francis,

I read the article further than wDurrance did. I also thought checking compression at idle sounded outrageous. There were a few other things in the article that were suspect.

If this came directly from the Star, I'm going to be surprised and disappointed. I've received the Star for about five years, and have always thought of it as a very good publication.

The article I saw when clicking on your link had no bibliography of any kind. If it is from the Star, someone is in violation of copyright laws for not indicating its source.

I will try to remember this weekend, to try and dig out this article, and will comment Monday.

Have a great weekend,
